Athlete Tattoo of the Day: Carly Patterson

In keeping with the Olympic spirit, “New 2 Tats” is featuring Carly Patterson, the 2004 Gold Medalist in the Women’s Gymnastics All-Around:

Carly has been a surprising underappreciated Olympic hero, especially for getting a gold in such a high profile event as Women’s Gymnastics.  Unlike her predecessors, Mary Lou Retton and Kerri Strug, and her successors, Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin, Patterson seemed to slip under the radar following her Olympic success.

However, the lack of recognition has not gotten in the way of continuing her to live her life well.  She has gone on to pursue a music career and has recently gotten engaged.

Carly has three cute tattoos that represent different milestones and passions in her life:

The first one is a black treble clef on her right wrist that represents her passion for music:

Her second one is a green heart on her left wrist [07/28 Update:  Per Carly, herself, the green heart is a special one between her and her sister.  They are best friends and the color green is there favorite.  So, they got green hearts together to represent that bond)

Her final one is a colorful Olympic ring design on her inner left ankle with the word ‘champion’ scripted underneath in Greek (after all, she did win the Gold Medal in Athens):
