Celebrity Tattoo of the Day (Fast and Furious Edition): Elsa Pataky

ElsaP_Pic05    The return of the “The Fast and the Furious” movie series with its newest installment “Fast & Furious 6” brings about the return of the incredibly attractive Spanish actress, Elsa Pataky, who portrays Brazilian police officer (and Dominic Torretto love interest), Elena Neves.  Although her role is a bit smaller than the one from “Fast Five”, she still effectively conveys the same strength and vulnerability of Neves from the earlier film.

ElsaP_Pic02     While the “Fast and Furious” films have been her most notable screen credits, Elsa has been acting on film and TV for over 15 years.  She also happens to be married to ‘Thor’, himself, actor Chris Hemsworth.

The gorgeous Elsa began her acting career in her early 20’s in the Spanish television series “Al salir de clase”.  She decided to leave school to take that role and has not looked back since.  She largely participated in Spanish and international cinema before she first reached U.S. audiences in the hilariously titled, but underwhelming, “Snakes on a Plane”.

Elsa continued her run in foreign films until struck it big in the 2011 blockbuster “Fast Five”.  In that film, she played a Brazilian police officer committed to taking down one of Rio’s most notorious drug cartels, who were responsible for the death of her husband.  She allies with both Dominic Toretto’s crew and special agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) to make that happen.   The stunning success of that film, and its sequel, have opened many doors in Hollywood for Pataky.

It is very noticeable in “Fast Five” that Elsa sports a few pieces of sexy, feminine body art.  Two of her tattoos are visible in the film, and she has at least one more that is visible in publicity photos.

The first of Elsa’s tattoos is crescent moon on her right hip.

On Elsa’s right upper arm, there appears a small symbol of what could be a letter from an ancient alphabet, or some other type of esoteric design.

Finally, she has a scripted phrase running along the inside of her left foot (I cannot make out what it says).

At this time, Elsa does not appear to have a Twitter account.

Celebrity Tattoo of the Day: Malin Akerman

MAkerman_Pic02    If you don’t know who Malin Akerman is by this point, you must be living under a rock.  If you’re living under a rock, I don’t know that the I can do anything to help you, other than to show you she has some great tattoos.

MAkerman_Pic04    To those of us who aren’t living under a rock, Malin first hit our radars in 2004 when she had a memorable cameo in “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” as the extremely attractive Liane, who was incomprehensibly married to Freakshow, the boil-faced abomination who helps our ‘heroes’ get their car running again.

MAkerman_Pic01      The Swedish-born Akerman (who fulfills all the stereotypes of beautiful, blonde Swedish women), has shown a gift for physical humor in films like “Harold and Kumar”, as well as the Ben Stiller comedy “The Heartbreak Kid”.  She has also shown adeptness in the romantic arena in films like “The Proposal” and “27 Dresses” (where she out-shined the movie’s lead, Katherine Heigl).  She has also shown a profound level of comfort with her body by not batting an eye at performing numerous nude scenes in films like “Harold and Kumar…”, “The Heartbreak Kid” and “Watchmen”.  Malin has said that, where she grew up, nudity was not a big deal and, as long as it’s not gratuitous, she has no problem with it in films.

MAkerman_Pic03   Akerman has certainly enjoyed a multifaceted entertainment career.  It should come as no surprise that she began modeling in her pre-teens in a series of print ads and, in her teens, was signed by the prestigious Ford Modeling Agency.  She later met her husband, Roberto Zincone, while as the lead singer for the band The Petalstones, for which Zincone was the drummer.

makerman_pic05    Malin is also someone who is a huge fan of body art, and quite proud of the tattoos she has.  Malin was even the cover girl for the March 2009 edition of “Inked Magazine”.   As of the publishing of that issue, Malin admitted to having two tattoos.

The first one is a larger lotus flower that appears on the upper part of her back.  It pays tribute to her Buddhist background and upbringing.

MAkerman_Tat04MAkerman_Tat06MAkerman_Tat01MAkerman_Tat03   Malin’s other tattoo is the artfully designed letter ‘Z’ on her right wrist.  It is for her husband’s last name, Zincone (and, after recently becoming a mother, it can be for her newborn son, Sebastian Zincone).

Celebrity Tattoo of Day (305 Edition): Nayer

Nayer_Pic02    In the Spring of 2011, I spent several days in Las Vegas for a friend’s bachelor party (don’t worry, no face tattoos or missing teeth or unexplained tigers resulted).  It was a great trip that left me with a lot of fun memories.  One of the ones that sticks with me was hearing the song “Give Me Everything” playing regularly in the casino at Circus Circus and at various other spots in Vegas.  For me, it will always be associated with a good time.  The song, which pairs rapper Pit Bull and singer Ne-Yo, features the pleasing vocals of Miami-based pop star, Nayer.

Nayer_Pic01   As a teenager, Nayer got her start in music by participating in the 2003 reboot of “Star Search” and performing on Univision entertainment staple “Sabado Gigante”.  In 2007, she linked up with her fellow Miami-based Cuban, Pitbull, and got exposure to the singing and song-writing game.  She also appeared in several Pitbull videos and helped craft some of his songs.  She scored a Top 20 hit along side Enrique Iglesias and Usher in the song “Dirty Dancer”.  Her biggest success, “Give Me Everything”, made it all the way to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (before being displaced by the now legendary “Party Rock Anthem”).  She is continuing to work on her solo career and developing her own albums for release.

Nayer_Pic03    It should come as no surprise that a curvaceous beauty like Nayer would show off her form in some sexy photos shoots.  The pics from those shoots show off some of Nayer’s personal body art.  In one photo, you can see that she has a script tattoo of her name ‘Nayer’ along her left bikini line.

Another photo shows a calligraphic ‘R’ (likely representing her last name Regalado) above her right posterior.

Celebrity Tattoo of the Day: Sara Paxton

Update (05/25/14):  Despite appearing in numerous different photos, it appears that the owl tattoo on Sara’s arm was not a real one.  Still, she seems to like it and, one day, it may become permanent.  So, we will leave the pictures in.

SPaxton_Pic05  Disney, Nickelodeon and Discovery Kids are just a few of the networks that act as a ‘minor league’ for aspiring young actors and actresses.  The transition to the ‘major’ leagues can sometimes go smoothly (such as with Selena Gomez, Hilary Duff, and Mandy Moore); it can have growing pains (such as Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato); or it can be a veritable train-wreck (see Britney Spears and Amanda Bynes).

SPaxton_Pic04   For all intents and purposes, it appears that actress/model/singer Sara Paxton falls into the ‘smooth transition’ category.  After getting her television start at the tender age of 8 on the kid’s game show “Small Talk”, Sara has worked steadily and successfully so far through her first quarter century.

SPaxton_Pic03    Sara followed her debut with cameo and small roles in movies like “Liar, Liar” and “Soldier”, as well as TV shows like “News Radio” and the daytime soap “Passions”.  After that, she nabbed a recurring role in the WB comedy “Greetings from Tucson”, where she got to get a little closer to her Mexican heritage (on her mother’s side).  Following that, she worked on the summer series “Summerland” with Lori Loughlin.

visit Celebrity City   After nearly a decade of acting, 2004 saw Sara score her first multi-year starring role as the lead character in the Discover Kids series “Darcy’s Wild Life” where she plays the spoiled daughter of an actress who has to learn to adjust to life in the ‘middle of nowhere’ when her mother decides they should go live on a farm.

Sara has had additional starring roles in “Aquamarine” and “Sydney White”; and she has 6 films in the pipeline for 2013 releases.  This hard-working woman also has a singing career that she hopes to combine with her acting to one day start her own production company.

SPaxton_Pic01    Sara has also demonstrated a significant affinity for body art with two sexy tattoos and one really bold one.

The earliest one that was seen on her was bikini-line design that looks like it could be a bird of some kind.

SPaxton_Tat03   Her next one was a popular feminine design; a script tattoo along her right rib cage that looks like it says “la bella vita” (“the beautiful life”).

Finally, Sara made a very bold declaration of her love of tattoos with a colorful owl design on her left bicep.  As it has been visible in many different picture sets, from casual to glamorous, it is definitely not a temporary design.

We look forward to Sara’s future performances and her future body art endeavors.

Celebrity Tattoo of the Day: Bat For Lashes (Natasha Khan)

I’m always a fan of promoting independent and lesser known celebrities, athletes, and singers who have great ink.  Natasha Khan, known by her stage name ‘Bat For Lashes’, falls squarely into that category.

The London-born Natasha (of Pakistani and English parents) grew up using music as an escape and as an outlet to channel her emotions that ranged from dealing with racism at the hands of schoolmates to enduring an absent father.

BatLash_Pic05    Even though music was a release for her, Natasha did not start her adult life in the industry.  After receiving GCSE’s to complete her school-age education, she worked in a card factory to earn money while she she wrote songs as a side passion.

BatLash_Pic04    Natasha eventually studied music and visual arts at the University of Brighton.  Upon completion, she worked as a nursery school teacher while developing material for her first album, “Fur and Gold”, released in September 2006.  She has since dazzled fans with her haunting voice and lyrics in two more albums (“Two Suns” and “The Haunted Man”) while showcasing her visual and theatrical talents in music videos for such well-received songs as “Daniel”, “Laura”, and “What’s a Girl to Do?”.  Her song “Let’s Get Lost” even appeared on the soundtrack for the movie “Twilight: Eclipse”.

Natasha’s quirky fashion sense, in addition to her vocal talents, have helped attract numerous fans.  In addition, Natasha has incorporated a couple cute tattoos into her image.  On her left wrist, she has the design of a bat (appropriate for someone named ‘Bat For Lashes’).  On her right wrist, she has the design of a peacock tail.  Here are some photos that showcase her body art.

Natasha continues to win followers after touring with Coldplay and performing at the pop culture festival in Coachella this year.

Celebrity Tattoo of the Day: Katrina Begin

KBegin_Pic04    Katrina is an attractive actress who has been steadily building her acting portfolio in film and on television while also starring in some hilarious commercials.  Courtesy of our friends at ‘Who is that Hot Ad Girl’, we can see clips of her as she goes jet-skiing with Maxwell the Pig in a Geico commerical:

And as she gets involved in a hilarious M&M’s commercial where helped set up ‘Red’ with a man-eater (candy-eater?) of a woman:

Katrina’s acting credits include guest spots in shows like “ER” and “Gossip Girl” while also having larger roles as Jenny in “The Agency” and Bailey Browning in “No Ordinary Family”.  She was also in the Kevin James comedy film, “Zookeeper”.

Photos at a recent red carpet event show Katrina sporting an incredibly cute black outline butterfly tattoo on the top of her left foot.  This tattoo combines a wonderfully feminine design with a perfect feminine placement.
