Celebrity Tattoo of the Day (Cascada Edition): Natalie Horler

Cascada_Pic03     2006 brought the very catchy dance tune, “Everytime We Touch”, to the airwaves:

The song was performed by a German eurodance group called Cascada.  Contrary to what fans thought (and, perhaps, still think), Cascada is not the name of the sexy lead singer of the group.  Her name is Natalie Horler, and she is the latest feature on “New 2 Tats”.

Cascada_Pic01    Natalie was born in Bonn, Germany (which served as the capital of West Germany until the nation re-unified in 1990) to David and Christine Horler, who both hail from the United Kingdom (she speaks both German and English fluently).  Her father is a jazz musician, which helped instill Natalie with a love of music.  That, and dozens of songs from Disney movies.

Cascada_Pic04    As she grew up, Natalie sought to make a career out of singing.  She started plying her trade by singing at bars and casinos before she began recording tracks with a number of respected DJs in the eurodance scene.  This led to her connecting with DJ Manian and Yann Peifer (also known as Yanou, who was well-known for 2002’s “Heaven” with DJ Sammy and Do, an incredible remake of Bryan Adam’s treacly 1980’s hit).  Together, they formed Cascada.  That first, stellar single, “Everytime We Touch” reached #2 in the United Kingdom, #1 in Ireland, and even became a Top 10 hit in the United States.

Cascada_Pic06     Natalie and Cascada followed up their initial success with a cover of “What Hurts the Most”, a country song made famous by Rascal Flatts.  In 2009, she returned to her dance roots (and the Billboard Hot 100) with “Evacuate the Dancefloor”, an energetic dance confectionery that reach #25 on the U.S. charts.  Natalie has also been a presenter and performer on numerous music video shows, while also recently posing in the German edition of Playboy magazine.

Cascada_Pic02      While it could not be seen in the video for “Everytime We Touch”, her follow-up, “What Hurts the Most” hinted that Natalie had a thing for tattoos with a temporary heart tattoo placed on her shoulder as part of the videos storyline.  In “Evacuate the Dancefloor”, all doubt is removed when you can clearly see her wrist tattoos.  I have been able to identify that Natalie has 4 pieces of body art.

On her left outer forearm, Natalie has a script tattoo that reads “Gone Too Soon” (apparently, a tribute to Michael Jackson)

Cascada_Tat01Cascada_Tat02    On Natalie’s right wrist, she has a star-encircled script tattoo with her initials “N. H.”.

Cascada_Tat05     In Natalie’s Playboy shoot, she shows off a pair of wings on her upper back.

Cascada_Tat06    That same photo session also revealed a ribbon tattoo running down the front of her left hip.

Celebrity Tattoo of the Day (Grey’s Anatomy Edition): Chyler Leigh

ChylerL_Pic01    From 2007-2012, Chyler Leigh was finally able to progress from ‘that actress’ on a million different television shows that never survived one season, to a steady, recognized actress with a growing fan base.

ChylerL_Pic05    2007 saw Chyler join the cast of ABC’s soapy medical drama, “Grey’s Anatomy”, as Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) barely known, younger, half-sister, Lexie Grey (the offspring of her father’s second marriage).  Initially, Lexie Grey was hard to warm up to because she was part of an infusion of younger cast members into the show, and because of Meredith’s own hostility towards her that were more a result of her own unresolved issues with her father.

ChylerL_Pic04    Over time, Chyler took hold with fans as Lexi Grey developed her own identity, independent of being Meredith’s sister, and had a torrid relationship with Dr. McSteamy, Mark Sloan (Eric Dane).  She also had several deeply emotional, and dramatic, story lines throughout the series, up through her departure in 2012.

ChylerL_Pic03    Before she joined “Grey’s Anatomy”, she literally was the ‘girl of a million television shows’.  By the time she joined that cast, Chyler had already had starring, or guest, roles in twelve different television series.  Only two of those series, “The Practice” and “7th Heaven”, were around for any appreciable length time.  Chyler had little to do with that, though, as those shows had already been long established before she joined them for a short run.

ChylerL_Pic06    One of the more notable failed attempts at television stardom was her role as the spiky-haired punk girl, June Tuesday (an obvious reference to 1980’s one-hit wonder, Jane Child), in a spin-off of the hit comedy “That ’70s Show” called, shockingly, “That ’80s Show”.  Alas, the show runners didn’t understand the chemistry that made “…’70s” work, and the spinoff quickly left the airwaves.

ChylerL_Pic07   Chyler’s other notable, pre-“Grey’s” role, was as in teen comedy spoof, “Not Another Teen Movie”, where her role as Janey Briggs was a direct parody of Rachel Leigh Cook’s character in “She’s All That”.

Outside of that, Chyler has also been involved in modeling since her teens, and she met her future husband, actor Nathan West (with whom she has three children), on the set of one of her earlier failed series, “Saving Graces”.

ChylerL_Pic02    As far as I can tell, Chyler only has one tattoo.  But, oh what a tattoo it is.  Running from her lower back back up through the middle of her back is a large celestially-themed design.

ChylerL_Tat01ChylerL_Tat02Chyler does not have any officially verified Twitter account, but you can get more information about her at her fan site:

Celebrity Tattoo of the Day (More Glee Ink Edition): Heather Morris

HMorris_Pic02    It should come as no surprise that I am featuring yet another member of the “Glee” cast on “New 2 Tats”.  With the large amount of ink flowing around the set of that musical comedy, one must almost think that having a tattoo is a job requirement for the show (It sure annoyed me back when I was still in my ‘tattoo hater’ phase….aka, the first 35 years of my life).  Heather Morris, who portrays cheerleader Brittany S. Pierce on the show, is another attractive actress who sports some impressive ink.

HMorris_Pic05    One of the major story lines involving Morris on “Glee” is her same-sex relationship with fellow cheerleader, and glee-mate, Santana Lopez (“New 2 Tats” hottie, Naya Rivera).  “Glee” has continued to show a dedication to stripping down the barriers of prejudice and discrimination across gender, race and sexual orientation, while managing the evince the very real fears and insecurities experienced by teenagers coming to terms with what makes them who they really are.  The pairing of Santana and Brittany has been very well received.

HMorris_Pic03    Before she was breaking ground as a singing, and dancing, cheerleader on “Glee”, this California girl got her acting start doing cameos as a dancer in television shows such as “Eli Stone” and “How I Met Your Mother”.  In addition to her first love of dancing, as well as singing, Heather has done modeling for lines such as FLIRT! Cosmetics.

hmorris_pic01     More recently, Heather had a role in the edgy Selena Gomez/Vanessa Hudgens drama “Spring Breakers”.  However, her proudest role will be her upcoming one as a mother to her first child (with boyfriend Taylor Hubbell).

HMorris_Pic04    In the wide world of “Glee” body art, Heather has a surprisingly small number of tattoos.  However, one of the two tattoos I was able to identify was a large lower back tattoo that consists of a fairy surrounded by esoteric wings.

HMorris_Tat03HMorris_Tat02HMorris_Tat01    Heather also has a bikini line tattoo, though I cannot determine what it is.

HMorris_Tat04 While Heather does not have a verifiable Twitter account, you can get more information about her at her fan site:

Celebrity Tattoo of the Day (Krewella Sister Act Edition): Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf

Earlier this year, the wide music audience got introduced to the synthpop beats of electro house trio, Krewella, with their first major hit, “Alive”.  “Alive” reached #32 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and provided a welcome party for the DJ’ing skills and passionate vocals of the sister act of this group:  Yasmine and Jahan Yousaf.

Exotic names aside (they are half-Pakistani), Yasmine and Jahan (along with their  third member, Rain Main [Kris Trindl]) hail from the ‘Windy City’ of Chicago.  Below are some solo shots of the sisters so you know who’s who:

The Sisters together

The power of Krewella’s “Alive” has already guaranteed them repeated spins in my iPod workout playlist.  They are now starting to get some radio play on a new single called “Live For the Night”.  It dabbles in bit of dubstep on top of the synthpop and stellar vocals.

While they are now making their big splash on mainstream radio, Krewella has already been a major player in electronic dance music (EDM), headlining such festivals as Stereosonic, Spring Awakening and Ultra Music Festival.

Krewella_Pic01   One thing that is not hard to notice about these uber-sexy sisters is their overwhelming love of tattoos.  Both sisters have numerous pieces of body art running all along their arms (the intertwined symbol on Jahan’s arm is the Vajra Brush, a spiritual art design done by tattooist Alex Grey [who also did some of Olivia Olson’s ink].  In their video for “Alive”, Yasmine shows off stars on the front of her left shoulder and ink on her torso.  Jahan also has a few tattoos on her neck, including the date “6-8-10”, which commemorates when the sisters made the decision to commit themselves to their music careers.

Krewella_Tat02     There is also a very fun tattoo that has been recently spotted on Yasmine’s right bicep.  It is the symbol of the Deathly Hallows from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”.

You can get a lot of fun features, photos, videos and information on Krewella at their official website:

They are also Twitter’d up:

Krewella:  https://twitter.com/Krewella

Yasmine:  https://twitter.com/krewellayasmine

Jahan:  https://twitter.com/KrewellaJahan

With their stunning beats, incredible vocals and fun, fierce personalities, Krewella should be a player for a while.  The music industry will benefit if they are.
